چکیده

Direct conversion receivers in orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) systems suffer from direct current (DC) offset, frequency offset, and IQ imbalance. We have proposed an IQ imbalance estimation scheme in the presence of DC offset and frequency offset, which uses preamble signals in the time domain. In this scheme, the DC offset is eliminated by a differential filter. However, the accuracy of IQ imbalance estimation is deteriorated when the frequency offset is small. To overcome this problem, a new IQ imbalance estimation scheme in the frequency domain with the differential filter has been proposed in this paper. The IQ imbalance is estimated with pilot subcarriers. Numerical results obtained through computer simulation show that estimation accuracy and bit error rate (BER) performance can be improved even if the frequency offset is small. key words: direct conversion, OFDM, DC offset, frequency offset, IQ imbalance, pilot symbols

Channel Estimation and CFO Compensation in OFDM System Using Adaptive Filters in Wavelet Transform Domain

Abstarct In this paper, combination of channel, receiver frequency-dependent IQ imbalance and carrier frequency offset estimation under short cyclic prefix (CP) length are considered in OFDM system. An adaptive algorithm based on the set-membership filtering (SMF) algorithm is used to compensate for these impairments. In short CP length, per-tone equalization (PTEQ) structure is used to avoid i...

Adaptive Estimation/Compensation Scheme of IQ Imbalance with Frequency Offset in Communication Receivers

IQ signal processing is widely utilized in today’s communication system. However, it usually faces a common problem of front-end distortion such as IQ imbalance and frequency offset. Effective algorithms exist for estimating and compensating for IQ imbalance as well as frequency offset, when the two problems are treated separately. With both effects present, such algorithms do not lead to usefu...

Joint compensation of IQ imbalance and frequency offset in OFDM systems

Zero-IF receivers are gaining interest because they enable low-cost WLAN OFDM terminals. However, Zero-IF receivers introduce IQ imbalance which may have a huge impact on the performance. Rather than increasing component cost to decrease the IQ imbalance, an alternative is to tolerate the IQ imbalance and compensate it digitally. Current solutions converge too slow for bursty WLAN communication...

Frequency offset estimation in OFDM systems in the presence of IQ imbalance

The orthogonality between sub-carriers in OFDM systems is disrupted by offsets between the carrier frequencies in the transmitter and receiver as well as by the so-called IQ mismatch in the mixers. When treated separately, effective algorithms exist for estimation and compensation of frequency offset as well as IQ imbalance. However, with both effects present, such algorithms do not lead to use...

Evaluation of LPF and PCLPF and Development of a Novel Method to Solve DC Offset Problem in Vector Control of Induction Motors

Stator flux oriented vector control of induction motor (IM) drives for speed sensorless control has several advantages. But the application of a pure integrator for the flux estimation is difficult due to the presence of measurement noise and dc offset. To overcome these problems, some have used a programmable cascaded low pass filter (PCLPF). In this paper, it is shown that some problems still...
